An aid from the Community avoids the emission of 54 tons of CO2 per year in Pliego (28/12/2017)

The aid of 62,000 euros allows the incorporation of self-consumption photovoltaic facilities in this agricultural cooperative

An aid of 62,000 euros granted by the Ministry of Employment, Universities and Business to the company Vega de Pliego allows this agricultural cooperative to avoid the emission of 54 tons of CO2 per year, thanks to the start-up of new photovoltaic self-consumption facilities.

This volume of carbon dioxide is equivalent, for example, to the replanting of 156 trees, or to the emissions of a gasoline vehicle over 410,000 kilometers.

That is, this pollution would be similar to that produced by a vehicle that made 1,020 trips between the cities of Murcia and Madrid.

The subsidy of the Community allowed, concretely, the installation of one hundred kilowatts of self-consumption in this company of Pliego with more than 30 years of experience in the agricultural cooperativism, and that commercializes more than ten million kilos of apricot, almond, olive , peach, orange and lemon.

The general director of Energy and Industrial and Mining Activity, Esther Marín, today held a meeting with the cooperative's managers in its facilities, and stressed that "this type of aid represents a notable increase in competitiveness and productivity for companies. From the regional government we will continue to bet on this route, because they stimulate the use of our main energy resource, which is the sun ".

The aid for the start-up of generating facilities and self-consumption of final energy from renewable energy sources constitute one of the main commitments of the Ministry within its Regional Energy Plan 2016-2020.
