Processionary pockets are being removed from the main green spaces of the urban area This is the time of the year when this processionary plague rebounds, whose caterpillars have a dangerous poison hidden in their fine hairs (02/03/2018)

It is found especially in the pines and is being removed since its contact causes serious allergies in children and is very dangerous for companion animals

With the arrival of spring, allergies cause an important problem for many sectors of the population, being in many cases difficult to avoid.

But in the case of the reaction to the contact of the caterpillars of the processionary can be prevented to reduce to the maximum any disease derived from this species.

For this reason, the Town Council of Pliego has promoted the removal of the pockets of processionaries that are located in the green spaces of the urban area that tend to be very popular both in children's games and by neighbors who stroll.

In this case, work has been carried out to remove the procession in pine trees in the educational areas such as the school and the institute, on the cemetery road, in the Los Pinos and Cañada parks, in the vicinity of the pavilion and the pool, as well as at the Cinto roundabout, the soccer field, Pollo Fili and on the Tío Neva bridge.

The experts in pest control point out that the risk to people and animals is much greater than it seems, and recommend avoiding contact with these caterpillars because when they touch them, they transmit a strong poison that is especially dangerous for children and can even be deadly for companion animals like dogs.
