The Civil Guard of the Region of Murcia, thanks to citizen collaboration, has removed and destroyed various explosive materials found inside a house in Pliego.

The action began when a neighbor of Pliego alerted the Civil Guard of the discovery of various explosive and pyrotechnic material while cleaning a house.

Immediately, the Benemérita moved the closest patrols to the scene, who, once they verified the finding, reported it to the Group of Specialists in Deactivation of Explosives (GEDEX) of the Civil Guard.

The GEDEX civil guards arrived at the scene of the incident and took charge of the materials.

They were 55 ammonite cartridges, 39 pyrotechnic detonators and 80 meters of slow fuse that were removed for destruction.

The material found, apparently, belonged to an old cabocker.

Citizen collaboration

In these situations, the collaboration of citizens is key to locate the artifacts and thus avoid their manipulation and subsequent accident, so that they can finally be guarded, deactivated and destroyed with the required security measures.

Safety recommendations

In the event of being in front of an abandoned object that could be suspected of being an explosive, incendiary or pyrotechnic device, the Civil Guard recommends that citizens follow the following instructions:

Give consideration to any explosive ordnance-like object that is foreign to the environment in which it is located.

Do not touch or move the object.

Immediately call the emergency telephone number: 062, which the Civil Guard has available 24 hours a day, so that they can be safely neutralized and destroyed by specialists in the field.

If possible, stay in the vicinity of the place until the arrival of the Security Forces and Corps.

Otherwise, signal the area or provide the coordinates through a GPS location program or application, very common today in some mobile phones.

That is, DO NOT TOUCH, DO NOT MOVE, SIGN AND NOTIFY 062

Any type of manipulation could have fatal consequences.
