The Ministry of Education, Culture and Universities and the City of Pliego organize a conference in which formulas are shown to value the geological heritage of the region and also conferences and round tables, include visits to some of the sites more interesting and a descent into the Sima de la Higuera, in Pliego.
The Director General of Cultural Heritage, Maria Comas, and the general director of Environment, Maria Encarnacion Molina, with the mayor of Pliego, Antonio Huesca, today inaugurated this conference where the role it should play in conservation research defends places of geological interest, and which also seeks to address an exchange of knowledge and experience that allows projecting innovative initiatives in rural environments in which the sites, caves, rock formations and geological structures of interest are located, to generate a sustainable development.
The event runs from today until Sunday, January 25, and is aimed at students as managers or entrepreneurs.
It involved geologists, academics, cavers, technicians from the Ministry of Education, Culture and Universities and other experts who analyze this rich heritage from different areas.
Natural World Heritage
This day is dedicated to conferences and round tables, and during a photographic exhibition which will be on show for the first time the extraordinary formations of the Sima de la Higuera will open.
On Saturday a free guided tour to some of the areas of greatest geological interest of the region, as Gebas ravine in Alhama be made;
Boatmen volcano;
the viewpoint of Aledo or argárico site of the Strip Canvas and casts of Loma Larga in Totana.
The last day, the Sunday is reserved for caving experts with experience in vertical wells decline since a visit will be made to publicize the unique underground formations of the Sima de la Higuera.
At present, given its uniqueness, the Ministry of Culture and the City of Pliego work together to ensure that UNESCO declared this cave as World Natural Heritage.
