The Minister of Agriculture and Water, Antonio Cerdá, Pliego presented today at the restoration project of a pine forest located within the village, which has a budget of 150,000 euros, financed by the Obra Social "la Caixa".
Cerda said that the contractor must ensure that 10 percent of employed workers are people at risk of social exclusion.
The presentation ceremony was attended by the Mayor of Pliego, Isabel Toledo, the director of Business Area 'La Caixa' in the area of Cieza, Maria Rosario Rios, responsible for institutional relations of this entity in Murcia, José Antonio Meseguer, and the director general of Natural Heritage and Biodiversity, Pablo Fernández.
The project is part of the collaboration between the Ministry of Agriculture, Water and Social Work 'La Caixa', the financial institution that provides a total of 3.75 million euros in three years.
The objectives of the agreement are to enhance and preserve natural areas in the region and contribute to the integration of disadvantaged groups.
The restoration of the pine contemplates over 3,600 square meters of natural space, such as improving the health status of trees, reforestation with native species of pine, olive trees and shrubs, land development, construction of low walls and masonry building of internal paths, sitting areas and a playground.
